  • The Web Site itself
    Your web site tells your visitors all about the great benefits of your products or services. It's a one to one sales conversation, only this one is written.

    The disadvantage is that you cannot see your customer. The advantage is, that you can improve your sales letter over and over until it's the most effective.

    This is done by tracking your visitors behavior on your site and, based on that behavior, test alternatives. If you do that right, you will end up with the most effective written sales letter for your business. And you can use that off line too. The Internet is absolutely, by far, the cheapest way of testing response!

    You leave your visitor no other choice than BUY or .....
    have him/her subscribe to your Ezine (an electronic magazine that you write and distribute periodically). In that way you build a list and keep in touch!

    And if they buy, you keep a list of these GOOD customers, who trust you! This is called The List.

    This is the interaction between your pages (offer a form to subscribe), your visitor (has to fill out the form and give their Email address) and Email (to send the Ezine or other messages). You have to build confidence to achieve this. Later on you will learn how to do all this.

  • Interaction with your prospects and customers
    This is the "Email" part of the concept.

    Your customers are on a special list that you create from your orderpage. Of course they can subscribe to your newsletter (see below) but they are the first ones to see a special offer for your new products/services. They are your finest chance to sell again. Maybe you have a special newsletter for them or pages with special content for which they have to pay.

    Your prospects are on another list that you create by having them subscribe to your newsletter in which you provide useful information, but not all of it. You keep them interested in your products by delivering good and useful content.

    Managing such lists is quite a job. Subscribing and unsubscribing visitors manually is a lot of work as is deleting wrong Email addresses.
    You better use special programs or special sites or services that run these Mailing Lists. Examples are in the Resources Page that comes with the download.

  • Marketing/Promotion
    Once your pages are up and tested, 80% of your time will be dedicated to Marketing and Promotion. As off line, you have to promote your pages and products on the Internet.
    There's one BIG advantage:
    it's not as expensive as off line.
    You can promote your website/product/service by:
    • submission to search engines, so people can find you;
    • banner exchange (you display banners of others and they display your banner), free and paid;
    • promoting your newsletter (Ezine) on special Ezine pages;
    • Autoresponders, special programs that fire back prefabricated messages when a blank Email is received. Very powerful for sales letters, help information, FAQ's (frequently asked questions) or technical support;
    • Email; the most effective way to promote new products, services, special offers is to frequently send messages to your List of prospects and customers; this is your Newsletter (Ezine)
    • Ezine advertising; placing small ads in other Ezines;
    • changing links with related, non competitors;
    • writing articles and have them published anywhere;
    • taking part in discussion groups and newsgroups;
    • writing press releases and (hopefully) have them printed or get an interview;
    • special actions, like contests, giving awards etc.;
    • anything you can think of that promotes your pages.

  • Promotion is very important on the Internet. Once your pages are ready, the greatest part of the work is promotion. Otherwise nobody will find you.

  • Testing and tracking
    You MUST track your visitors' behavior, which path they follow, where they come from and what their search arguments were?
    Almost every host delivers this tracking system resulting in logfiles. All you need is a program to evaluate your logfiles.
    It's vital information! With this you can see what works and what doesn't and you can improve your pages by testing new elements. There is NO cheaper way to test than the Internet. Just make corrections and investigate your logfiles.
    Doing this right makes you strong and will give you many ideas for new products.
    And then you go back to paragraph 1. Market Research.

Hope this makes it clear how the concept works.
Later on you have a chance to learn every detailed aspect of this system from beginning to end. That's the only way to develop pages that SELL with deadly precision.
